The Hoku Galaxy with demo data. Three projects are drawn as star systems. Their sessions orbit them as small shapes, and the ones that need attention have a warm halo. The top bar reads "Needs You 4" and "Working 3".

Your AI work, mapped.

Hoku is a free macOS app that finds your Claude Code, Codex and Claude Desktop sessions on this Mac, arranges them by project, shows which ones are waiting on you, and takes you back to any of them in its own app.

See all your AI work in one place

Every Claude Code terminal session, Codex Desktop thread and Claude Desktop Cowork session on this Mac, grouped into projects. Claude chats can be added by link.

Know what is waiting on you

Sessions asking for a permission, an answer or a sign-in go to Needs You. Hoku can badge the Dock and notify you once when that happens.

Get back in with one action

Go to terminal switches to the tab a Claude Code session is running in, or resumes it. Codex and Claude sessions open in their own apps.

Keep it on this Mac

No account, no cloud, no analytics. Hoku never writes to the other apps’ files and never reads passwords or tokens.

On an Apple Silicon Mac, paste this into Terminal:

Terminal window
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/joao-afonso-p/hoku/main/scripts/install.sh | bash

The same command updates Hoku later. To download the DMG yourself instead, see Install and update.

  • It doesn’t run models, send prompts or keep transcripts. It stores a title and a short preview per session, nothing more.
  • It doesn’t sync between Macs or back anything up to a server. Your index stays on this Mac.
  • It can’t see Claude Desktop chats by itself, because they live on claude.ai. You add them by pasting a link.
  • It runs on macOS only. Releases are for Apple Silicon. On an Intel Mac you can build it from source.
  • macOS on an Apple Silicon Mac.
  • At least one of: Claude Code, Codex Desktop, or Claude Desktop. Hoku finds whatever is installed.
  • iTerm or Terminal to reopen Claude Code sessions. VS Code’s integrated terminal also works for sessions already running there, and the optional VS Code extension lets Hoku go straight to the right window and terminal.
