Supported providers
Hoku works with three providers. It reads each one’s local data read-only, and never needs your password or tokens.
| Provider | How sessions are found | Live state | How they open |
|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Code | Automatically, from its transcripts in ~/.claude/projects |
Full, reported by Claude Code itself | Go to terminal: switch to its tab, attach, or resume |
| Codex Desktop | Automatically, from its thread index in ~/.codex |
Partial: approvals are inferred | In Codex Desktop, directly to the thread |
| Claude Desktop, Cowork | Automatically, from local session metadata | Limited: whether it’s likely working | In Claude Desktop |
| Claude Desktop, chats | By hand only: paste a link | None | In Claude Desktop, or on claude.ai |
The Integrations screen (the orbit icon near the bottom of the rail) shows this for your Mac. It lists which apps and command-line tools are installed, your sign-in state, how many sessions are indexed, and what each source supports: ✓ full, ◐ inferred, — not available. Scan sessions there rescans just that provider. Open Claude or Open Codex launches the app.
Account status comes only from the providers’ own status commands: claude auth status for Claude (it reports the email, organization and plan) and codex login status for Codex (it reports only how you signed in). These commands print no secrets, but they may contact their provider’s servers themselves.
Want another tool supported? Open a provider integration request. It asks where the tool keeps its data and how sessions can be reopened.
